Company of Voices is GPAC's community choir. We rehearse on Monday nights, we don't audition anyone, and we're open to singers aged 16 and above.
You don't need to read music. Plenty of our members can't, and it has never stopped them. Parts get taught in the room, week by week, and the people either side of you have all been the new person at some point.
Gladstone has had this choir for a long time. Company of Voices carries on from the Gladstone Light Opera Society, which put its first show on a Gladstone stage in 1972. Two of our life members, Jennifer Garrett and Pam Penny, have been singing with this choir for more than forty years, and both of them are quoted below.
Each year, Company of Voices rehearses and performs for a range of events including Australia Day, ANZAC Day, Gladstone Eisteddfod, the Mayor's Carols by Candlelight, and other community events.
Your first two rehearsals are free
Come and try before you commit to anything. Send us a message on Facebook before you come and someone will be expecting you, to say hello, point you at the right section and put a folder in your hands.
Or just turn up. Get to the Salvation Army Church at about ten to seven on a Monday night during school term, tell whoever's at the door that it's your first night, and sing. Nothing to book, nothing to pay, and no obligation to come back a third time.

If you decide to stay
After your two free rehearsals there are two things to sort out, and they're separate:

An annual GPAC membership, which makes you part of the company itself. It comes with voting rights at our AGM and member pricing across our groups. Choose an Adult Membership or a Concession, Student or Senior Membership.

Term fees for Company of Voices, currently $65 a term, through the Shop. That's what pays for our music, the hall and our musical director.
If the timing of either payment is difficult, please talk to us instead of staying away. We would much rather have you in the room.
